External Brain v2.24.0: Confirmed Sign-Ups, Three Languages, Stronger Checks

On October 13, we released External Brain v2.24.0 (https://brain.autobahn.bot), our self-improving memory substrate for AI coding assistants and developer workflows.

External Brain plugs into the coding assistants people already use—it ships ready-made setups for seven of them—to capture institutional knowledge and eliminate repetitive prompt configurations.

v2.24.0 is a release about trust at the front door: confirmed sign-ups, a first visit in three languages, and more automated checks behind every change.

Here is what's new.

1. Confirmed Sign-Ups

A self-registered account now confirms its email address before it can sign in. (The hosted Brain at brain.autobahn.bot is still invite-only, with a voucher code.)

2. The Same 14 Tools, Checked Harder

The tool surface did not change: your assistant still opens a task with brain_start_session, closes it with brain_report_session_outcome, records rules and decisions with brain_teach_knowledge and asks brain_ask_oracle why things are the way they are—14 tools in all. What changed is the safety net: every change now passes a lint gate, 15 more end-to-end browser tests and a check that fails if a test silently skips the database, and dependency updates arrive automatically.

3. A First Visit in Thai, German and English

Error messages, labels, page titles and the first signed-in experience—onboarding, tokens and settings—now speak English, Thai and German.

4. MIT Open Source and Ready for Deployment

We believe foundational developer memory must be open, auditable, and self-hostable. External Brain v2.24.0 is 100% open source under the MIT license at https://github.com/bejranonda/ExternalBrain.

To run your own (Docker Compose with Postgres and pgvector; one AI provider key):

bash
git clone https://github.com/bejranonda/ExternalBrain.git external-brain
cd external-brain
cp .env.example .env # add one AI provider key
./scripts/dev-up.sh # build · migrate · seed · start

Connect your favorite assistant, stop repeating your project rules, and experience the power of an assistant that truly remembers.
